Pedro Pico y Pico Vena is a one-page comic series created by Carlos Azagra for the weekly magazine “El Jueves” in 1984. It stars a skinhead and a punk.
We received an enticing proposal at our studio that presented an interesting technical challenge: adapting Carlos Azagra’s work, Pedro Pico and Pico Vena, into an animated TV series. During the time we had it in our hands, we put great effort into developing the technical, artistic, and economic of a series that had it all: A renowned piece that stood the test of time, full of cheekiness, with a unique aesthetic, social and with a lot of humor. Yes, exactly what people would call a classic.
However, as the ancients say, not everything glitters is gold, and unfortunately, we had to leave the project in its initial development phase.
In animation, sometimes projects don’t see the light of day for one reason or another. In this case, it’s a shame to keep it locked away and not share a glimpse of what could have been. Let’s consider it a fanart and tribute from our studio to Azagra’s work.
